What We Do

  • Theatre

    bring us your new ideas and re-imaginings — we want your weird shit.

    • collaborate with playwrights and/or acquire licensing for existing works

    • obtain funding through crowdfunding campaigns, grants, sponsorships, or ticket pre-sales

    • create a detailed budget to allocate resources for sets, costumes, cast, and crew

    • assemble creative team, including directors, designers, technical staff, stage managers, and production assistants as needed

    • hold auditions to cast actors for roles*

    • schedule and oversee rehearsals for the cast and creative team

    • provide promotional outline to utilize leading up to the production

    • promote the project on our platforms

    • design, build, and coordinate production elements

    • handle audience management, ticketing, and front-of-house operations

    • handle payroll and final payments

    Film

    we love all genres and all lengths, so long as it makes us feel something.

    • conceptualize and develop ideas for films

    • acquire screenplays

    • obtain funding through crowdfunding campaigns, investors, or grants

    • assemble the core creative team, including pre- and post-production assets

    • plan logistics, including casting, location scouting, and scheduling rehearsals, shoots, and contingencies

    • oversee the filming process, ensuring the creative vision is executed

    • manage the cast, crew, and day-to-day operations on set

    • finalize post-production, including scheduling any re-shoots required

    • submit to film festivals

    • identify and target distribution channels if requested

    • provide promotional outline to utilize regarding the production

    • promote the project on our platforms

    Events

    weddings, birthday parties, fundraisers, ragers… nothing’s off limits.

    • help develop creative themes, concepts, and experiences tailored to your goals

    • find and prepare venues, including layout planning, staging, and decor

    • manage audio, visual, and lighting equipment to enhance the event's atmosphere and functionality

    • oversee transportation, scheduling, permits, and on-site operations

    • coordinate with with caterers, entertainers, florists, and other service providers

    • plan and track expenses to ensure the event stays within budget

    • provide promotional outline to utilize leading up to the event

    • promote the event on our platforms

    • hire event staff, such as ushers, coordinators, and technical crew

    • handle RSVPs, ticketing, and on-site registration

    • ensure compliance with safety regulations and preparing contingency plans for emergencies

    • oversee real-time operations to ensure smooth execution

    *we generally only work with non-union performers. please inquire further for clarifying information.

  • We do:

    • edit the manuscript

    • design the cover

    • produce the book, including all formatting

    • provide a marketing outline

    • promote the book on our platforms

    • publish and distribute the book

    • track and report sales

    • pay royalties as outlined in the contract

    • help pitch your work to larger, traditional publishers*

    You do:

    • complete the manuscript

    • revise the manuscript as requested

    • provide input on cover design and formatting

    • promote the book utilizing your network

    • maintain a public persona to build a relationship with readers

    • transfer publishing rights as outlined in the contract

    We do NOT do:

    • author fees (like a traditional publisher, we make money by selling your book!)

    • full service marketing campaigns (yet!)

    • organization of launch events (yet!)

    • hardcover releases (yet!)

  • At Protagonist Laboratory, we are dedicated to using the arts as a tool for positive change. In 2025, we plan to launch a scholarship and grant program aimed at providing underprivileged youth with access to the arts, helping to nurture creativity, confidence, and opportunity.

    In the meantime, we are proud to commit 10% of our profits to support organizations focused on educational equity in the South Bronx, Eastern Kentucky, and the occupied West Bank and Gaza, ensuring that our work contributes to meaningful causes and community growth.
